Super League 2013

2013 welcomes back The Super League bouldering competition at Westway!

This season the league is held over 4 rounds with more bouldering for all age groups. Participants will be asked to top 20+ purpose built competition boulder problems for both junior and adult categories. Prizes are available in each category.

This year’s Super League is held on 4 Tuesday evenings across 4 months and will have separate start times for junior and adult categories.

Round 1 15th Jan

Round 2 12th Feb
The second round of the Super League took place on 12th February. It was great to see many repeat competitors making the journey over to the Westway for the second round. Not only that these strong individuals battled it out for a world famous Super League trophy but more importantly, these motivated and inspired climbers returned to enjoy the competition again.

This round was set by Liam and Yann with a few supplementary problems set by Rob. A very different style to the first but still as varied as possible in order to provoke as much thought and movement as possible.

Unfortunately the ‘baby turtle’ volume wasn’t moved but is expected to move for round three. This massive volume kept many entertained and the hard-core kept to the cave where there was a feast of burly powerful problems to keep the hard-core entertained.

It was just the steep stuff that test people’s skills. The slab encouraged those interested in holding the smallest hand holds and standing on the worst foot holds we could find.

But it was the volumes that entertained the crowd this round. No matter who you were you could escape from wrestling with one of them and if you wanted a higher score you were commited to wrestling with them all. And each was different to the next!
