Bike Polo runs Thursdays 7 - 10pm at Westway Sports Centre
Come to Westway to watch or join in - new players and teams are welcome!
Bikeminded (in partnership with LHBPA) have hosted weekly Open Sessions at Westway Sports Centre since March 2012. Bike Polo is attracting a dedicated following at the Westway Sports Centre. It is far removed from the traditional image of Polo but this team sport is thriving in cities across the UK and can be enjoyed by a wide range of people. No equipment is needed as bikes can be hired and mallets and balls are provided. Rules are easy to follow and it's beginner friendly - players just need to maintain good balance and stay in a low gear without putting their foot on the floor as well as being able to strike the ball with their mallet.
Bike Polo was originally featured as a demonstration sport at the 1908 London Olympic Games and enjoyed huge popularity in the 1930’s. Thanks to the recent success of cycling during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, bike sports such as Bike Polo have been making a comeback.
